Hi. I am 52, and in good health. I am 5 3 and weigh 130 lbs. I have had a consistently regular period and now I am 3 weeks late. Is it possible that the period just stops? I expected it would taper off....but this is like a sudden stop. Is this something to be concerned about?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Menopause can take over in varied ways. It can take years with irregular periods off and on OR it may stop suddenly. At present you have to wait patiently for period to come. If it does not start for more than 1-2 months get yourself checked by your gynecologist to manage any accompanied symptom with menopause and also a through health check up as per need.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
