What Are The Symptoms Of Chiari And Syringomyelia?

My 4 yr. old daughter has had cranial decompression with duraplasty for chiari and syringomyelia. Things have improved but a doctor pointed out that her eyes are very dilated in the light and she has been complaining that they burn periodically. can this be related to the chiari and syringomyelia?

Pediatrician, Pulmonology 's  Response
Hi,

Syringomyelia could not be the reason for dilated pupils.

But sometimes Arnold Chiari malformation, when it is pressing upon the occipital cortex, can cause this type of phenomenon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
