I suggest her to repeat the home pregnancy test after 5 days or undergo one blood test for beta-hCG to clear confusion about pregnancy. Faint line is very doubtful and need to confirm pregnancy. If she gets POSITIVE result, then medical abortion should be undergone after consultation with local gynecologist. On NEGATIVE test, I suggest to await for another 1 week for natural period and if she doesn t get it by this time, she must undergo one USG lower abdomen and hormone test to confirm the diagnosis. She may require progesterone pill to induce period. Basic reasons of late period (in absence of pregnancy) could be PCOD, hormonal imbalance, over wt/ extreme loss, mental stress (most common), vaginal infection, emotional upset, eating disorder, thyroid problem etc. Review with test result for next level of management of the case.
