Hi,

I-pill, or emergency contraceptive pill, contains a high dose of hormones and can cause several side effects, including:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Breast tenderness
- Abdominal cramps and pain
- Irregular menstrual bleeding

The irregular bleeding you are experiencing after taking the pill is a common side effect. It is not unusual to have bleeding that is different from your normal menstrual bleeding after taking an emergency contraceptive pill. This can include light bleeding, spotting, or brown discharge. However, if you experience heavy bleeding or severe pain, you should seek medical attention.

It is also important to note that emergency contraception should not be relied on as a primary form of birth control. It is intended for use in emergencies, such as when regular birth control methods fail or unprotected sex occurs. If you are sexually active, it is important to discuss regular birth control options with your healthcare provider to prevent the need for emergency contraception in the future.

As for when you will get your next period, it is difficult to predict with certainty. The hormonal changes from taking the emergency contraceptive pill can cause irregular bleeding and can sometimes delay the next menstrual period. However, if you have concerns about your menstrual cycle or experience any unusual symptoms, it is best to speak with your healthcare provider for advice and guidance.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
