Hi,

Thyroxine (also known as levothyroxine) is a synthetic thyroid hormone that is commonly prescribed to treat hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. When taken as prescribed, thyroxine is generally considered safe and effective. However, as with any medication, there may be potential side effects.

Some of the common side effects of thyroxine include:
- Weight changes (either gain or loss)
- Increased appetite
- Insomnia
- Fatigue
- Sweating
- Headache
- Nervousness
- Tremors
- Diarrhea
- Irregular menstrual periods
- Chest pain or palpitations

It is important to note that taking thyroxine during pregnancy is generally safe and can help prevent complications such as miscarriage, stillbirth, and preterm delivery. If you have concerns about the potential effects of thyroxine on your future children, it is important to discuss this with your doctor, who can provide you with personalized advice based on your individual medical history and circumstances.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
