General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Combined oral contraceptive pills contains derivatives of both hormones estrogen and progesterone. Hence, side effects of both the hormones may occur. Nausea, vomiting, bloating, abdominal cramps, fluid retention, acne, weight gain and mood changes are some of the side effects of the drug. Most of the effects reduce in the following days as your body adjusts to the newer hormone levels.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
