What Are The Side Effects Of Stopping Ambien?

Are there any side effects from stopping ambien? I have been taking it for years and now my Dr wants me to stop, not taper off - stop. I have RA and the pain prevents me from sleeping well. The Ambien has been a big help in managing my RA. Brenda Green YYYY@YYYY

There are specific side effects and withdrawal symptoms and intensity of these depends from man to man.
It is difficult to know exactly how long Ambien withdrawal takes for each individual person. A period of 1-2 weeks is average, but several factors can affect how long a person experiences Ambien withdrawal symptoms. Because of the potential for seizures, some doctors may work with the individual to taper the Ambien dose. Symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, shaking, seizures or sleepiness.
