Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Although Crocin (Paracetamol) is the safest drug to reduce the raised body temperature in young children. However, if the high grade fever does not subside even after taking Crocin, then Meftal-P can be given.

Meftal P contains mefenamic acid which can be given at 4 to 6.5 mg/kg per dose (maximum 25 mg/kg/day).

It should be given at an interval of every 6 hour.

There is no reason to use them together because they are used to treat the same condition. Please do not give multiple medicines to your child.

The most common side effects of Meftal-P are gastritis, abdominal discomfort, bleeding. Hence, it should not be given on empty stomach and the duration of treatment should not be long.

Along with the medications, tepid sponging should be done to lower the raised body temperature. He should be encouraged to take plenty of oral fluids & fruit juices.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
