Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed medroxy progesterone for spotting between periods. Then my face got a brown spot on day seven. I was prescribed hydroquinone. I kept getting brown spots that were popping up all over my face. even after stopping medroxyprogesteron .They hurt and sometimes were became very itchy. Then one day my face burned very badly. Like all of a sudden. It turned bright red. My cheeks were bright red and at my jaw line I had red lines. The burning, stinging and irratation, and swelling lasted for a couple of months. As this happend to my face it also happend to my body. First my chest. It became hot to the touch and I developed some skin discoloration. It was a very uneven circle and clear in the middle. I got it on my back. The skin on my arms hurt and I had brown lines and discoloration. At this point I also had this on my whole torso. Some of these areas looking like a light darkish bruise. Then it spread all the way down to my legs. Each spot burned as it developed. I had to two doctors review my ultra sound results and they both told me that I never needed medroxy progesterone. One of rhem beeing a GYN and the other a GP. This going on four months and I still have brown spots on my face and facial senitivity. My face swelled today but that could be a reaction to the finacea. I also have a few acne spots that I never had before. Every once in a while I will get a red spot that turns brown, or an old brown spot will turn red. I do experience facial flushing once a day after work. I got 2 dermatologist opions. one says its rosacea and the other one says it's not. I can eat very hot chillie and my face does not turn red. I didn't have the early signs of rosacea . My face didn't flush or blush. This all happend after the medroxy progesterone. Not to mention that know I have spider veins on my ribs. I researched this and found out that it can be caused by synthetic hormones. I sill get burning and heat on my lower torso sometimes. I don't know were to began to figure out whats going on. Neither derms seem interested in running any tests. I want my skin back.
