What Are The Side Effects Of BP Lowering Medications?

My mother aged 67 is taking Rasilez 150 OD, Pregeb-M 75 OD, Arkamin TD, Amtas 10 BD, Starpress XL 150 OD, Novanorm 1 mg TD, Deplatt 75 OD, Shelcal HD OD, Janumet (50+500) BD. This medicines have been advised after her BP rose to 270/90 and she started talking nonsense after administering BP lowering injection(forgetting the name). What are the side effects of these? She is type 2 diabetic since long.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The high BP is what caused her to experience some confusion and talk without meaning. The medications are unlikely to have caused that. A regimen like hers for anti-hypertensives (BP meds) will put her at risk for occasional drops in BP. Ensure that she gets up slowly with support. She should sit down immediately if she feels dizzy to ensure she doesn't fall. Buy a BP device at home so you can measure her BP on a daily basis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
