General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Normally, vaginal opening of a virgin is covered with a stretched thin membrane, the hymen. The degree of coverage and thickness of the membrane varies. In few girls, during first sex, the hymen gets stretched to allow sex. In such cases, there would be pain but bleeding may be absent. The same seems to be the case with your friend.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
