What Are The Chances Of Intestinal Fistula Recurring Once Healed Following Surgery? Is On Npo, Tpn, Antibiotics

My husband has an intestinal fistula following surgery. He has been on npo and tpn with antibiotics..plan is to hope it closes on its own. IN the last few days his abdominal wound has almost closed and no output noted by home health nurse. He is being told to try to begin eating again...it feels like a try and see..My question is, if you know, what are the chances of a fistula reoccurring once the wound is healed?
