General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Low platelet count can be caused by a number of reasons like ;
*Liver disease
*Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (a disease autoimmune in nature, where platelets are reduced in a normal and otherwise healthy individual)
*Certain connective tissue diseases like SLE
*Drug-induced e.g. heparin-induced
*Certain conditions related to pregnancy
There are several other causes too. If you have any symptom like increased bleeding tendency ? Then show to a medical specialist.
Thank you
