What Are Spreading Rashes On Body With Mild Fever In A Child Indicative Of?

My four year old went to doc on today because she has a rash that has spread from stomach to kneckto underarms and this evening her back. I learned she had a 99 degree fever at the doc office. She also had a runny nose lots of flem when she talks. They said it was a contact rash from something new she wore but why is the rash spreading? She seems ok but very irritable today and yesterday and not eating in the mornings.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that the rash may be part of the illness that she is experiencing causing the fever, runny nose and increased mucus production.

The fever, runny nose and mucus are more likely due to a viral upper respiratory tract infection (common cold).

This can be associated with a rash which is called viral exanthem. This is a rash that can occur with different viral illness including the cold.

It would normally resolve along with or soon after the other symptoms.

I hope this helps
