What Are Reasons For Fluctuating Heart Beat Rates?

I'm 55; on 5 mg Norvasc daily. Sometimes, like right now, My heart rate flutters. BP is pretty normal, 120/80, but heart rate, measured on Omron monitor has been up and down for half hour or so, between 54 and 115. Is this dangerous? Not short of breath or dizzie or anything like that.

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, your symptoms seem to be caused by anxiety.

This is a normal heart rhythm and there is nothing to be worried about, as long as you have no symptoms.

If you have any symptoms like fainting, lightheadedness or troubles with breathing, I would recommend you to perform an ambulatory 24 hour ECG monitoring, to exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia.

Hope to have been helpful!

Greetings! Dr. Iliri
