What Are Delayed Periods And Negative Result In HPT Suggestive Of?

I was supposed to start my period the July 26 I'm never late so I went to the health department and took a pregnancy test and it had a faint line so they told me I was pregnant and they made me an appointment to come back the August 12 for wic and Medicaid but I've been having bad headaches and cramping a little And istarted having brown discharge with a little red in it and stretchy stuff and I took another pregnancy test today and it was negative I don't know what to do

Thanks for contacting with your health concern and following can be the possibilities:

1. If you had got a negative test on home pregnancy kit after missing your period, it is unlikely that you are pregnant but at the same time possible, so check with a gynecologist. [HCG may be too low to detect it]

2. latest research suggests that HPT are not absolutely accurate and many of these tests don't show positive until you are at least five to six weeks pregnant and some not even then, so one might have to wait or check up with a gynecologist will be a better option.

3. Apart from having regular normal periods and absent pregnancy there are certain other factors which one has to exclude for missed period like: amenorrhea, thyroid dysfunction,eating disorder,diabetes,exercise,polycystic ovarian syndrome.
