Was On Chemotherapy With Medication After Brachytherapy, Radiation. Having Loss Of Weight, Weakness, Diarrhoea, Vomiting

After brachytherapy and radiation my husband has been on several forms of chemotherapy as well as another round of radiation .............. he has taken Bicalutamide or a similar pill daily for about 9 years .............. also shots of varying dosages - the latest being Lupron .............. his PSA has remained at 0 ............ however, the last several months he has lost weight and had unexplained bouts with severe diarrhea and some vomiting ...... is very weak and has no energy ............ he is 87 years old ............... I m wondering if all the years of chemo have compromised his system and his quality of life would be better without the medication .............. he does not like me to talk to his doctors and I suspect that he is not completely truthful with them when they try to assess his condiiton :+}

Hello

Thanks for the query

It looks like your husband has infective gastroenteritis which could be due to his immunocompromised state (cancer).

Here are my suggestions to you
1. Approach a physician for complete blood count, s creat and stool routine
2. Endoscopy and colonoscopy is indicative for him as it has been having repeated episodes of vomiting and diarrhea for several months
3. He will have to be treated with a combination drug like ciplox and tinidazole
4. For symptomatic relief I advice mouth dissolving Ondansetron three times a day when he is vomiting
5. Anti motility agents for his diarrhea could be dangerous and it is best avoided.

I hope I was of help

Regards
