Vaginal Swab Test Results

Hi, i had vaginal swab and result was this: smear shows few puss cells and few doderlein bacilli . Scattered gram negative bacilli are also seen. Pus Cells 10-15/hpf, RBC s 0-1/hpf, Epithelial cells 5-10/hpf, Trichomonas Vaginalis - absent, Yeast cells - absent, clue cells absent, others - absent. Please help what my report means. Thank you.

Hi

Your vaginal smear report points towards the diagnosis of Bacterial vaginitis. It needs to be treated with oral antibiotics and improving the local hygiene in the form of vaginal douching. But your report lacks the details about your age which is very important in the treatment. Guessing your age as between 20+ or 30+ you may need immediate treatment.
