Unprotected Sex. STI Positive. Partner Tested Negative. Possible To Be Infected From Earlier Partner?
Hi! My friend had unprotected sex and was tested 2 months later with negative results! She then was celibate for a year before having unprotected sex with her new boyfriend! She then went for her yearly exam testing positive for an STI but when her boyfriend got tested his results were negative. Is it possible that the STI did not show up in the test a year earlier even though it had been 2 months since the sexual encounter?

It is possible..
The test can be negative during what is called a window period.The timeframe between when you are exposed to STI to the time you test positive for STI antibodies can be up to 3-6 months.
Usually these tests are antibody based so it will take some time for the body to make antibodies to a level that can be detected by the tests..
