Tumor In Parotid Gland, Lump. What To Do?

I have a tumor in my right parotid gland . It was first noticed noticed when I was an infant (6 weeks old). I have never had surgery, only monitored. I am now 35 years old. When I was younger it would seem to come and go depending on whether I was sick or not. For the last 6+ years it has been a steady lump. It is about the size of a large grape in front of my ear. It causes me pain, difficulty opening my mouth, and I have a constant feeling in that area as if I were eating something sour. I was on the operating table once when my then ENT decided to cancel surgery stating that risk of damaging facial nerve was too high. I am unsure what to do. Any advice?

Hello
welcome in H.C.M.
I have gone through your query regarding tumor in parotid gland, and you have advice for surgery but your operation had been cancelled because of threat to damage to facial nerve.
Since your tumor is creating problem therefore it's definitive treatment is necessary.before surgery few investigations are must -
(1) Ultrasonography of parotid region.
(2) FNAC from parotid tumor.
(3) Blood - CBC, ESR, blood sugar - F & P.P.
here I would like to say that if you leave this tumor as such than after some time it will involve facial nerve, irrespective of it's nature. So please go for surgery by expert hands in that case chances of nerve injury will be less.

With Regards.
