Tenderness In Hips And Groin After Lifting Weights. Help

In mid July, I was lifting weights (hang clean was the lift I was doing at the time) when I tweaked my left hip and I felt a pop as I did the lift. I went onto practice about thirty minutes afterwards and thought nothing of it. In mid August, my left him became very sore and tender to where it hurt to run and walk. I began to ice and stretch it and progressively, it got better. It stayed feeling alright until about the beginning of October (one month and half span). Then my right hip started feeling like the right one had, but now on the left. Now though, both my hips and the inner groin on both sides are really tender and tight and when I run it feels like I can t get to full speed due to the fact I am not being allowed my ROM. A stretch that really hurts, specifically on the left side, is lifting my leg up in a high leg, then moving it to the side. There is a popping sound at the V of my groin, but no popping in the right. I have wrestling coming up pretty soon and need to get this better due to the fact, I use my hips a lot and need my ROM with shots and stuff.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Your description is suggestive of an injury to the internal hip joint structures like ligaments or the labrum. An MRI of the affected area is the best test to diagnose the cause. You can avoid bearing weight on the affected leg and avoid all movements around the groin.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
