Taking Levaquin And Meloxicam, Stuck Sensation At The Back Of Throat On Taking Levaquin. Reason?

Hey, I was recently put on levaquin 750 mg and meloxicam 15mg for an respiratory infection. I had no reactions to the meloxicam but almost immediately after taking the levaquin I would get a sensation of something being stuck in the back of my throat which would last all day. Am I having a reaction to this drug/what can I do to get rid of this lump feeling that is keeping me from eating.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

I have understood your problem and let me assure you that you have nothing to worry about.

Many patients who have levaquin have similar complaints that you are having and since the feeling is just a lump in the throat you have nothing to worry about. Nevertheless you may consider the following:

1. If you are getting other symptoms like itching, rashes, breathing difficulty etc then it may be a reaction to one of the drugs and then you need to stop the drugs and take an anti allergy tablet immediately and consult your doctor.

2. Drink plenty of water both before and after you take the medication

3. Have the tablets only after a proper meal unless otherwise specified

4. Take an anti reflux medication like pantoprazole 40 mg before food for one to two weeks. This is before food. Your doctor will know about this.

5. Avoid anything spicy or oily

6. Add a multivitamin tablet like zincovit in consultation with your doctor

Needless to say, if you feel any discomfort consult your doctor immediately but if you are otherwise fine then you must complete the course of tablets given to you so that you can have a good and complete relief

Take care and get well soon

Regards
