Swollen Face And Cheeks. Loss Of Taste. Due To Sinus Gland Infection?
I fell really hard on the right side of my face and I have a swollen eye and cheek now. I haven't been able to taste anything for 4 days now. Is this a temporary loss of taste due to swelling of maybe my sinus glands and once the swelling goes down I will get it back? Or could I have done damage to my nervous system in my brain from falling on my face so hard. No bruising or swelling above my right eye... only below and bruised all the way down to my chin. Please help me understand why I cannot taste anything and what is causing this loss of my very much loved sense!!!
Hello, You must get an ENT consultation . As taste sensation is supplied by a nerve which passes from the ears along with the nerve which is responsible for movement of facial muscles. Did you have ear bleed and is there any problem in movements of facial muscles ? get yourself examined .there might be facial nerve paresis. As due to trauma there should have been loss of sensation or numbness over face and not loss of sensation of taste.
