Swelling On Eyebrows After Falling. Applied Ice. Large Bruise, Narrow Strip Of Blood Under Skin. Professional Examination Required?
My 3 year old fell and hit her brow bone (above her left eye) and it has swelled up to to size of a smallish grape. I put some ice on it for a few minutes and she cried for a minute or two but has been moving about in the hour since the accident. She did say she was tired after but I have kept her awake. She has had no vomiting and has eaten okay since. However, the bruise is large and has a narrow strip of blood under the skin over her brow bone where her brow hit the door frame. Should I have her examined by a professional?
If your daughter's brow bone where she had hit feels soft underneath and is very tender to touch or her swelling doesn't decrease over time, then it would be best for you take her to her pediatrician to be examined. It is good that you are watching for warning signs. Continue to monitor for excessive sleepiness, excessive headache, vomiting, eye pain or any change in the position of her eyes or double vision or abnormal behavior: any of these, take her to the ER or her doctor immediately.
