Sustained Broken Shoulder Blade And A Brain Haematoma. Platelet Count Is Below Normal. Suggest The Treatment?

Hi,
In January, when I was 62 yrs. old, I had a serious auto accident where my car fell 60 ft. down and I sustained a broken shoulder blade, some smashed aveoli, and a brain hematoma/TBI. I am mostly recovered from all buy before had never had any surgeries or even been admittled to a hospital for anything ever...great health. Since getting off morphine in hospital and only hydrocodone low amt. for 1-2 wks. thereafter. Since then, I only take a small piece, equivalent to 2.5- max of 5 mg. and aspirin occasionally if I cannot get to sleep due to aches or a little discomfort. Other than that, I am on lisinopril and lovastatin only. My blood work has always been fine except last week my platelet count was 72...for about a year or two before the accident it would be just a little below normal so my Dr. had just thought that was my baseline...not now. Could the drop be from the cyclobenzaprine usage....the only other thing is I usually or often have one glass of chardonnay at night before taking the med., cyclo...Thanks for your thoughts.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The decrease in the platelet count that is persistent till now could be due to side effect of a medicine or an autoimmune disorder. You need to consult a hematologist for proper treatment.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
