Suggested Visit To ENT After Doing PET Scan. Reason?
hELLO. My mom had a PET Scan ordered by her pulmonary dr. he called her today and said he wants her to see an ENT Specialist quickly. When she said she would have to check with me ... when I could take her... he said he would make the appointment for her and to wait is dangerous. She is 85 years old and did not ask any questions... why would he send her to an ENT? Thank you, Deb
I understand your concern that immediately after a PET scan your doctor asked you to meet the ENT. There are a million reasons why he would have done so which you can easily pick up on the net and will not be very specific of useful to you.
By my experience patients are usually referred after a PET scan if there is some affliction in the thyroid which is the ENT surgeons forte. I am assuming that even here there may have been some finding pointing out to a thyroid problem and the doctor would have needed an ENT consulation as soon as possible.
The ENT doctor may have a look at the scan and may in all probability order a thyroid analysis. You may meet him as soon as possible and do not worry.
take care and give my regards to your mom
