Suggest Treatment For Weight Gain In Spite Of Eating Less

Where do I begin? I have been treated for so many things for the past 30 years. Right now, I am very concerned that my upper arms and abdomen just keep getting bigger and bigger. I am doing everything I can do such as eating healthy and a little exercise. The exercise part is difficult due to pain in my abdomen and legs. I had gastric bypass surgery 30 years ago...which was reversed two years later because I was unable to get anything down due to ulcers and adhesions...I had to have several blood transfusions. I found out about five years ago that I had HEP C...I went through two rounds of treatment and my levels are okay right now. I have hiatal hernia, hernia in abdomen which has caused obstructions. I have adrenal mass on left kidney. My surgeon is skeptical to do surgery because I had major difficulties during my last surgery three years ago to try to repair esophagus. The surgery was aborted, my lung collapsed and I was on respirator for a couple of days. They think the anesthesia epidural for pain was the issue but the surgeon feels I might not make it through another surgeon. I am frustrated. The endocrinologist has me on spiraldactone. It does not seem to help...I just keep gaining and gaining weight. I wish I could go to a hospital and let them monitor my intake so I could prove that I am not eating and drinking all of this weight on.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM!

I understand your concern.
The foremost measures that should be taken by you are diet control and physical exercises.

There are some drugs available to reduce weight/obesity.

Weight loss medicines include orlistat, phentermine, lorcaserin, and phenteramine plus topiramate.

However, these drugs alone will never be effective.

You have to have a right combination of these drugs, diet and exercises along with other activities like Yoga.

You might also want to rule out any cause of Obesity like Hypothyroidism or Diabetes.

Hope this information helps .Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.

With warm regards,
Dr. Sridhar Reddy
