Suggest Treatment For Upset Stomach Followed By Urgent Bowel Movements

My wife, aged 70, is suffering from an upset stomach, causing her to evacuate her bowels immediately and urgently after ingestion of food- more specifically after lunch. She had been suffering from this complaint since an year. Recentlyshe is prescribed Normaxin- one tablet after dinner besides VSL#3 one capsule after lunch. The only relief she got from its usage is that the urgency is reduced to some extent. She is further advised to use Colospa retard 200 mg. Her case is diagonised as irritable bowel syndrome. I am sure that she is under competent hands. But my anxiety makes me address this query. Any suggestions.

Hello and thanks fir writing.

I can understand your concern for your wife's condition and i will fo my best to help you in the beat way possible. Your wife is suffering from a condition caled as irritable bowel syndrome. As the name tells you that it is an irritating condition to have. You are following up with a physician and he is guving you the meds for it. A few things I can suggest which could probably help you are to take high fibre diet and avoid animal proteins as much as possible. The condition probably gets aggravated by stress so try some stress reducing activities like relaxation techniques.And also take ample fluids and curd or curd milk to get enough probiotics in your system if you are not lactose intolerant.
