Hi my doctor told me I have tonsilitis yesterday and prescribed penecillin. Later that night i noticed a small black spot on my right tonsil which looks like a blood clot. When i woke up this morning and my right tonsil had increased its swelling. Should I go back to the doctor for a second check up or let the penecillin kick in? The pus appears to have increased.
Hi, Welcome to healthcare magic. I had gone through your question. I can understand your concern. You might be not responding to pencillin. I recommend the following. 1) A course of antibiotics, preferably amoxicillin with clavulinic acid. 2) Analgesic like tablet paracetamol for pain relief. 3) Salt water gargling. Add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water. 4) Avoid refrigerated foods. You will be fine. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help. Wish you a good health and speedy recovery. Regards, Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS Consultant ENT Surgeon
