Good Evening, my granddaughter is three an a half years old and has been having tonsilitis and a fever. She s been to the doctor three days in a row and been given antibiotics that don t reduce the swelling in her throat. What could be the cause and the reason why the antibiotics won t work? A series of tests are being ran.

See acute tonsillitis is quite common among children and fever is because of infection only. You have to give her some antibiotic after an expert opinion of child specialist along with syrup ibugesic-plus or syrup calpol every 8-12 hours for fever and syrup cetrizine or syrup wikoryl every 8-12 hours for throat discomfort and other flu like symptoms if present.
