Hello dear user!
I have gone through your query and understood your concerns!
Thank you for sharing them on healthcaremagic.
From the symptoms you describe in your query it seems to be probably a strep infection of the throat. This is the common condition which may cause swollen lymph node, and in this case the lymph node is reactive. Have your friend fevers too? If he does, this condition i mentioned above is more likely.
Other conditions which may cause similar symptoms are mononucleosis (viral infection of the throat), measels, teeth infections, lymphomas etc.
I would recommend your friend to see a doctor who will evaluate better his condition for determining the right diagnosis.
If he/she don't, at least take antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs to cure the infection and lymph node swelling.
Take a lot of liquids and vitamins to ease your recovery.
I hope this answer was helpful to you!
Please kindly rate it as helpful and write a short review about your experience with me! I would appreciate that a lot.
Thank you and best regards!
DR ERIOL.
