Suggest Treatment For Thin And Brittle Hair

I am African American 55 year old female. I have type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure. I am taking medication. I have thin, brittle hair and it is hard to grow. Can you recommend a multi-vitamin to take? I used a straightner on my hair that was too hot and currently have bald spots and I would like for it to grow back. Sometimes I get my hair braided, so now I have traction alopecia. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I can recommend you to check your blood count, haemoglobin and iron levels. Also, check your thyroid hormone balance because Hypothyroidism can cause hair brittleness and alopecia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
