Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Neck

Have had congestion similar to that accompanied by head cold for three days. Woke around 1 a.m. this morning with pain in right ear from swelling that radiates from the right lateral side of the neck just under and proximal the Mandible up through the right eardrum. When trying to blow nose pain increases in ear as if swelling has impeded the eardrum. I note swollen lymph gland in neck lateral the Adam s apple about the size of a walnut. This is accompanied by yellow to green phlegm. If I can reduce the swelling I think I would be able to fight this. Any Suggestions for someone without insurance?

Hi..
Welcome to HCM..

As per your complain head cold along with swollen lymph nodes, earache and yellow green phlegm seems to be most probably due to respiratory tract infection that has also led to infection in ear..

As it is a viral infection it will resolve once the virus will complete its cycle in human body..

As of now you can start with supportive treatment to relieve the symptoms like:
-Gargle with a warm saline solution that is by mixing 1 teaspoon salt in a glass of water and warm it to make a luke warm solution..
-Take a combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol and anti allergic levocetrizine and another combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen..
-Take cough expectorant containing Gueifenesin and cough suppressant containing Dextromethorphan.
-Chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
-Do steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
-Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
-Sip on warm water throughout the day, take soft and bland diet and take appropriate rest..
-Do warm compresses over chest..

Hopefully the symptoms will resolve within a week and if it worsen consult a General Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
