Suggest Treatment For Swishing And Popping Noise In Right Ear With Blocked Throat
I am in a nursing home for short term for physical therapy. I ended up with an infection and I had to have a picc line put in on the right side for antibiotics. Recently I have been hearing a swishing and popping noise in my right ear when flushing the line and while the antibiotics are going Into my system. Then, I had a severe upper respiratory infection and after using primaxin with saline and flushing with saline and trying to use a nebulizer with saline, my throat would close up with phlegm and I couldn t breathe. Using hard candy and the saliva from it would keep my throat open. What is going on? Thank You in advance for any advice you can give me.
Please do sputum or phlegm examination via gram stain and antibiotic susceptibility test. This will tell the exact cause and treatment. Otherwise, empirically take tab. Tylenol, use Karvol Plus capsule, Betadine gargles and tab Amoxicillin for 10 days. If AST test is done then you need to modify accordingly. PFT test can be helpful. Ear wax can be a problem. An ENT specialist can be consulted if it is still problematic.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
