Hello,

You are suffering from swollen ankles. The ankles have been swollen for almost a week. Swelling of the ankles are commonly due to stress and exertion. You should keep your feet up to your ankles immersed in a tub of salted water at least once daily. Limit the amount of salt intake and avoid standing for prolonged periods. Stay at rest.

An injury, an infection, anemia, edema. venous insufficiency, lymphedema, heart failure, hypothyroidism, water retention, kidney disease, etc., can cause swelling of the ankle. Resting and applying a compression wrap, bandage, or dressing and elevating the foot above heart level will help reduce the swelling. You can take anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen, to ease the pain and reduce swelling.

You should wear a walking boot or brace to provide ankle support. Get clinically examined by an Orthopedics to rule out any bone fractures, tendon or ligament tear, stress or strain. Rest is the key, it will help in getting relief. Do not strain unnecessarily walking and moving. Have patience let it heal. Your treating doctor will tell you to get blood tests and imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. You will be accordingly treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
