Suggest Treatment For Strep Throat While On Amoxycillin

I was diagnosed yesterday with Strep throat. I was then prescribed Amoxycillin 500mg for strep throat. after 24 hours it did not seem to be working. My doctor just prescribed cefuroxime acetyl 250mg 2 x a day. Is this too drastic a step? IS there another drug you could recommend?I often get yeast infections from antibiotics and would ideally like to deal with the strep throat but not have a lot of side effects. Any advice?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

The only way to treat strep throat is with antibiotics. Since amoxicillin did not work for you, please be advised to take cefuroxime as prescribed.

You can take probiotic supplements along with antibiotics to help prevent fungal infection.

Hope this answers your question
