Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed flucloxacillin for a mosquito bite that caused swelling. 500gm x 28 I have taken 25 they make me feel quite sick but now I have bad stomach cramps soft stools but not diarrhoea and ther is some blood I have also had diverticulitis in the past do you have any advice.
Your symptoms might be a side effect of the antibiotics flucloxacillin you are taking. Most common side effect is: - Diarrhoea (blood or mucus) with cramps (abdominal / muscle), pale stools and dark urine - Yellow discoloration of eyes and skin - Bruising or discoloured skin - Joint or muscle pain etc.
I advise you to: - Discontinue the medication as you have almost completed the course of treatment - Take probiotics + a course of antibiotics to restore the gut healthy microbial flora - Also, good fibers and less spicy, oily food
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
