Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat Along With Cold
I have had a sore throat for nearly 2 months. It is on the right side of throat. I went to doctors last week because now I have a cold flu symptoms. I don t have the flu and I don t have strepp. I still have cold symptoms but I am concerned about the sore throat lasting so long and I wasn t sick when I first got it. Of course my friend has thyroid cancer in his neck, so I am a little freaked. I do have another doctor s appointment in 2 weeks.

As you mention in query that you are suffering from long standing sore throat ,nearly 2 months .There can be many reasons for sore throat like bacterial and viral infections due to cold .dental cause ,peritonsillar abscess and gastroesophageal reflux ,
But long standing sore throat accompanied by cold is always a matter of concern because it can lead to certain complications like tuberculosis .Sometimes long standing sore throat point towards malignant growth or simply a prolonged infection .So you should get it diagnosed by doctor properly with the help of sputum test and by swabbing throat for test .
If there will be bacterial infection your doctor will prescribe you antibiotics for around 10 days .If the infection is viral the doctor may let it go by its own by prescribing you with some medicines to relieve symptoms like cold.If its some thing like malignant growth then certain medications and radio therapy should be prescribe .
For now you should drink plenty of water ,gargle with warm saline water 2 - 3 times a day.For reduction of inflammation you can take ibuprofen (if you are not allergic to it )
