Suggest Treatment For Small Bumps On The Buttock And Chin Of A Baby

I have a 14 month old daughter who we first noticed a few bumps on her chin, to the side of her mouth yesterday. She seems perfectly fine, no fever and she doesn t even seem to know the bumps are there. Today we noticed more bumps on one ear and along her butt crack when she had her bath. The area on her bottom has many bumps and red but they do not seem to cause her any problems. We also noticed a few more bumps on the other side of her mouth now. We have not seem any other bumps, none in her mouth or trunk or extremeties. We leave for vacation in 2 days, should we be concerned or see a doctor before we go?

I think this is a case of folliculitis which is infection of the hair follicles. If the lesions are small and not causing distress to the child you can postpone going to a dermatologist and instead apply topical antibiotic like mupirocin twice daily on these bumps.
