Suggest Treatment For Sinus Tachycardia

I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia and thought seeing an electrophysiologist would be smart, so my cardiologist gave me a referral. EP is insisting that the best thing for me is to keep taking the medications he prescribed even though they re clearly not working. I am taking them as instructed and am still experiencing very painful palpitations, but he seems not to be listening to my concerns. Are there really no other possible treatments available?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Treatment depends on the causatives.

Causes for palpitations are hyperthyroidism or anemia or electrolyte imbalance or anxiety or idiopathic or cardiac structural or functional defects.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. So, please consult your Cardiologist and get it evaluated for above causes and get treated accordingly.

Simply taking medicines is not useful until the treatment for the root cause is not done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
