Suggest Treatment For Shortness Of Breath And Neck Pain
My mother in law who is 78, diabetic with a pacemaker has just called me and told me for the past month she has had shortness of breath and now right neck pain. Hx of left side carotidendarectomy 2 years ago. I have made an appointment with a doctor tomorrow what could be wrong?
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Since she is diabetic and old aged, better to first rule out heart diseases like heart failure or coronary artery disease (CAD). Both of these can cause breathlessness and carotid artery embolism (cause for right sided neck pain). So better to consult cardiologist and get done 1. Ecg 2. 2d echo 3. Coronary Angiography if required 3. Carotid doppler study. So discuss all these with doctor and start appropriate treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
