Suggest Treatment For Severe Rectal Pain And Vaginal Pain

I am a 72 year old woman. For the past few years I have had pain in the vaginal rectal area. I have told my gynecologist about this, she has examined me and not seen any problem. Over the past few months, it has got worse, and is becoming very painful. I have read about pudendal pain, it was suggested in some literature from a doctor in Maryland, some years ago. I just don t know where to go next, the doctors I have mentioned it to,, just don t say much. I just don t know what to do next. I am in the Tampa, Florida area.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It appears that due to decreasing estrogen level at this age there might be having some atrophic changes producing atrophic vaginitis and laxity of perineum muscles.
As Gynaec has examined so there is less likely of having prolapse of uterus or rectum which again give same problem.
Take some anti-inflammatory medicines for few days.
Apply estrogen cream on this area.
Do pelvic floor exercises.
Ok and take care.
