Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In The Abdominal Region

I went to the emergency room last night with severe pains on the right side of my back and stomach. The doctor said I was constipated and gave my a prescription for Gavilyte. After almost finishing, I threw most of it up and now I am hurting worse than before. Should I go back to the doctor or does it take some time?

General Surgeon Dr. T Chandrakant's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood that you have right sided back and abdominal pain.
Although the Doctor has thought of the constipation as a cause and given you Gavilyte, you have already vomited it out.
Another reason for visiting the ER again is that the constipation never can have so much pain. There has to be a reason and we have to find it.

I would advise you to visit the ER again.
Get admitted.
Insist for investigations.
Urgent ECG to rule out any cardiac problem.
Blood: CBC, Amylase, Lipase, Liver function tests.
Ultrasonography of the abdomen.CT scan to confirm if anything is positive or doubtful on USG.
Upper GI Endoscopy if gastric ulcer is suspected.
Standing X-ray of the abdomen to see for gas under diaphragm.

All these tests will get to the real cause and get an appropriate treatment.
