Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain Between The Shoulder Blades

For about 2 months now, my wife has been having severe pain between her shoulder blades to her chest. She just had a mri and dr said is was not her gall bladder, so the dr is going to schedule her for a mrcp or mrpc. Since it is not her gall bladder, what could be causing this? It is not severe all the time, sometimes just a bad aching pain. She is 54 yrs. of age. Thanks Dwayne

Hello dear. MRCP stands for magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography. MRCP is a type of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRCP produces detailed images of your liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas and pancreatic duct.

Uses of MRCP

1. Checking your liver, bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreas for gallstones, tumours, infection or inflammation.

2. Investigating the cause of inflammation of your pancreas (pancreatitis).

3. Investigating unexplained tummy (abdominal pain).

4. Being a less invasive alternative to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

So doctors are trying to find out what exactly is the cause by doing this procedure. It can be any of the above mentioned symptoms. or it may not be any pathology and just a vague pain also. So suggesting you to wait patiently till the scan report comes.

Hope i have answered your question. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I ll be glad to help you.
All the best
With warm regards
