Suggest Treatment For Severe Neck Pain

For the past few days or so I have had constant/continuous moderate to severe pain in my neck that can sometimes hurt down to my shoulders. I sometimes cannot turn my neck one way without it hurting or feeling a pull, nor can I sleep on my one side at times. I tried stretching it, but it just made the pain more severe. I thought it was a pinched nerve or muscle strain/neck strain at first, but I thought that it would have gone away sooner. What could this all mean?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hi, i did review your concern and question. such a neck pain hurting down your shoulder could be due to multiple reasons. it can be a joint arthritis, disk problem or ligament strain and sprain. To diagnose accurately if you have neck pain more than 2 weeks you can get a MRI neck done and the radiologist can detect what is inflamed and problematic. meanwhile use a neck collar.and do not rigorously move your neck.
I hope this helps
Wish you a healthy life.
