Hello,
The RICE treatment is recommended by health professionals for the early treatment of
bone injury or acute
soft tissue injuries such as a
sprain or strain.
It can be helpful for sports injuries, closed
fractures, and degenerative joint problems. The acronym R.I.C.E. stands for:
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. The primary goal of R.I.C.E. is to bring pain and swelling under control as quickly as possible.
I think this treatment was effective (it treat the pain). I think you need a further examination like an
arthroscopy to exclude different pathology of knee ligaments.
Example: the patellar tendon serves as the distal extent of the quadriceps insertion.
Rupture of the patellar tendon usually occurs at the osseotendinous junction and causes complete derangement of the knee extensor mechanism.
This is a disabling injury in an active person, resulting in an inability to actively obtain and maintain full knee extension.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
