Thank you for your query

Stress is a normal part of life.
Too much of it or improper ways of dealing with it coupled with unhealthy habits (smoking, alcoholism, unhealthy diet) lead to health problems that can inturn worsen stress and it's negative effects.

This vicious cycle occurs silently and the most common symptom to occur is sleep disturbances.
Sleep is an essential part in healing and a good night's rest of approximately 7hrs is vital to maintain a healthy body.

First step is to find or figure out what causes your insomnia (too much coffee, hunger, too much noise, any musculoskeletal pain or headache, problems at home or work or just the stress)

Many a time, there are certain life style changes that will work wonders.
- avoid caffeine after 4pm and limit it to 2 cups a day.
- eat a well balanced diet with nutritious food and don't go without food for too long or skip meals(stay away from carbonated drinks and junk food)
- quit smoking or binge drinking
- exercise (preferably in fresh air) for at least a half-hour every day. Start by walking and increase intensity and variety (please see your doctor if you have any medical problems before starting to exercise?
- keep a diary. Write down all your thoughts and make a To Do list everyday. Strike out those that are done with or those that don't need to absolutely done. This is to seek a pattern in your thought process (negative thoughts, self loathing, depressive thoughts) that add to your stress. Sometimes identifying the problem is enough to correct it
-don't try to do things beyond your current capability and endurance
-stay away from negative people or those that make you feel negative
-meditation and deep breathing exercises detoxify your mind and body. Do it everyday

If these don't help after consistent and systematic approach, I recommend seeing your doctor for any organic causes for mood disorders (thyroid imbalances, genetic or hereditary, other hormonal, metabolic issues, psychological or psychosocial fsctors)

Hope this helps. Please get back to us for further queries.
With you good health
