Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Purple Discoloration On The Toes

my husband is feeling real bad he is coughing hard and bad, and his tows are purple and I found on his back an old androderm patch on his back. he keeps telling me he feels like he got hit by a truck and he hurts all over . he felt great when he got up but he put the patch on a little latter and he started feeling reall bad like flu. and he didn t remember he put the patch on and it was exp. 2014 will this be some of the problem?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cough with expectoration may be due to allergy to the patch or may be due to acute upper respiratory infection.

Andropause symptoms also may present like this. Avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use water vapor inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

If symptoms not improved, please consult your ENT specialist/physician to know patch allergy and get treated accordingly.
