Suggest Treatment For Severe Constipation

I was having some constipation in the past couple of days. I know my bowels and I usually go number two 1-2 times a day. I have not gone number two in 3 days so I took a small child s laxative(I am a small adult and because of it I usually have to take a child s dose or child s medicine) well after taking the laxative(liquid by anus) I was cleared out. After a few hours I had some gas and after passing that gas, a small amount of clearish yellowish mucus came out of me. Is that normal? Or should I go get that checked out?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having severe constipation since past couple of days and that is making you uncomfortable. Symptoms you mention in query occurs due to eating a lot of dairy products, irritable bowel syndrome, some medications like antidepressants, acidity and certain conditions like hypothyroidism. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order colonoscopy or other tests to look for blockages in your colon , barium studies and blood test for hormonal changes. For now drink lot of water , do light exercises and avoid fatty and heavy meals. Doctor may prescribe fiber supplement,osmotic laxatives , stool softeners and medicine to reduce acidity.
