Suggest Treatment For Severe Anxiety, Increased Pulse Rate And Chest Pain

I have been having symptoms such as increased heart rate, agitation, anxiety, tension and excessive worrying, chest pains on and off (I am extremely physically active and healthy for my age, 50) about things that previously have not bothered me. I feel like I m about to blow up over the smallest provocation lately, feels like anxiety, which I think I have a predisposition towards...and now I feel like I m out of control with worry, agitation, etc. I see a psychiatrist for depression already, what should I do?

Hi,

Sorry foe what you have been feeling lately. These symptoms are quite suggestive of anxiety disorder.

I would suggest working. In relaxation techniques. Try deep breathing exercises, meditation. Also if you have recently made any change in your drugs, especially changes in psychiatric drug, may cause anxiety.

If you have no chest pain, no fainting, then it looks to be. Discuss this with your psychiatrist for better management.

However Chek your BP regularly as the sometimes organic cause may mimic anxiety like pheochromocytoma, which generally causes high BP and pulse along with headache and sweating. But that is very uncommon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
